Hi Gavin,
Like Tim, I've got some issues with your slides.
These are, hwever, additional considerations people should keep in mind
when dealing with Debian (and deriviatives):
- use the backpots.org URL mentioned
- don't be afraid to install new version of postgresql
Debian installs binaries, configuration and data directories in
completely seperate locations for each version of postgresql
- that'll mean you have multiple instances of postgresql active
this will let you perform a dump/restore on the same system; obvious
data size need to be considered.
- Debian provides tools to assist you in managing a postgresql cluster
http://www.progsoc.org/~wildfire/note/postgresql-cluster.html has a
(brief) overview
Cheers,
Anand
