Which version of Solaris? Which compiler and version? Which version
of PostgreSQL? What ./configure options did you specify? Does the
build fail during ./configure or during the compile? What errors
are displayed? PostgreSQL requires GNU make (gmake) -- are you
using it?

I've built several versions of PostgreSQL on Solaris 9 with gcc 3.4.2
and gmake 3.80 without any problems.
