Certainly some of you have downloaded the new beta2 package, since we've
already had several bug reports and fixes come through on the new package. If
you haven't though, please grab a copy, it should be available at a mirror
close to you.

So what was fixed in the past week you ask? Some issues with lstat on win32
were fixed. Several issues related to the backend mistakenly assuming a
relation would be open by sgmr were fixed. Sequences were modified to ensure
that they are always created in the databases default tablespace, rather than
in a schema's default tablespace should it differ. Several bits of the GUC
mechanism were cleaned up, eliminating some errors with incorrect GUC
assignment and reducing some of the code clutter that had crept in. Some code
was added to match the timezone name on localized Windows systems. The
Wisconson benchmark in src/test/bench was repaired to make sure it works
against the current code. The prettyprinting rules for UNION, INTERSECT, and
EXCEPT constructs was tweaked. Some issues in error code promotion were
worked out. Transaction control statements are now specifically disallowed in
SQL functions. Finally, some issues with statement_timeout and deadlock
detection not working on win32 were corrected.

We also saw a little bit more code added in to address a couple of items.
Support for s_lock for HPUX on IA64 was added, along with a couple of other
HPUX specific fixes and an update to the HPUX FAQ, thanks to Shinji
Teragaito. The contrib module dbsize was fully brought up to speed with
tablespaces, adding several new functions to test things like tablespace
size. Last, the log_filename_prefix was replaced with a more general
log_filename parameter to allow the DBA to choose the form in which log
filenames reflect current time.
