I did a "select md5('apple');". PostgreSQL 7.4.2
For me, the result is: 1f3870be274f6c49b3e31a0c6728957f

In php I did a "echo md5('apple');". php 4.3.6
The result in php is also: 1f3870be274f6c49b3e31a0c6728957f

I don't now, how you get your answer...

Greetings,
Stefan Sturm
