my$ql inc owns and controls all of the code that belongs to the my$ql
project. they decide who gets to use code and under what circumstances,
and can change those terms as needed to suit their business needs.

pgsql.com however does not own any of the code of the postgresql
project. They do have several employees that are long standing members
of the project community, and through their previous actions have
developed close ties with the community, however they do not have
control over the project any more than the other companies who are
actively involved.
