I found in the contrib the function moddatetime
CREATE TRIGGER dmodtar_upd
BEFORE UPDATE ON tarifs
FOR EACH ROW
EXECUTE PROCEDURE public.moddatetime(dmodtar) ;
So all works fine !
PostgreSQL 8 is great.
