PostgreSQL on Interix 3.5 (Unix environment for Windows)

Hello all:

I would like to compile and run PostgreSQL 7.4.1 on Interix 3.5. Interix is
a UNIX-type environment that runs as a subsystem of Windows, and is freely
(as in beer, with strings attached) available from Microsoft.

When I try to run ./configure, the script fails to identify my system type.
I tried to get a newer version of configure, but it was not available from
ftp://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/config/ (instead there was a message that it would
be back 'real soon now').

On a related note, I found PostgreSQL 7.2.2 source for Interix available
from http://www.interopsystems.com/tools/warehouse.htm, with binaries
scheduled to be made available today. Is there any reason 7.2.2 would run on
Interix, but 7.4.1 would not? Any ideas why an older version is available
at the aformentioned address?
