From bf7ea1c547fbe9b99059e539ab24189c80f774ed Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Zsolt Parragi Date: Thu, 15 Oct 2026 18:48:48 +0000 Subject: [PATCH v1 2/2] Doc: GiST inet_ops is now the default opclass for inet and cidr. Commit b352d3d80 marked the built-in GiST inet_ops opclass as opcdefault, but missed the paragraph in gist.sgml that says it is not the default for inet and cidr and tells users to name it explicitly in CREATE INDEX. Say that it is the default as of v19, and point to btree_gist's documentation for why it wasn't before and what that means for upgrades. Back-patch to v19. --- doc/src/sgml/gist.sgml | 13 ++++++------- 1 file changed, 6 insertions(+), 7 deletions(-) diff --git a/doc/src/sgml/gist.sgml b/doc/src/sgml/gist.sgml index 820f9298061..8dc7cf64367 100644 --- a/doc/src/sgml/gist.sgml +++ b/doc/src/sgml/gist.sgml @@ -207,13 +207,12 @@ - For historical reasons, the inet_ops operator class is - not the default class for types inet and cidr. - To use it, mention the class name in CREATE INDEX, - for example - -CREATE INDEX ON my_table USING GIST (my_inet_column inet_ops); - + The inet_ops operator class is the default class for + types inet and cidr.
