when i try running hte postmaster i get the follwoing message ( Postgresql is located in /home/postgresql1 on my machine)

$ /home/postgresql1/bin/postmaster -D /home/postgresql1/data
Lock file "/tmp/.s.PGSQL.5432.lock" already exists.
Is another postmaster (pid 6262) using "/tmp/.s.PGSQL.5432"?
/home/postgresql1/bin/postmaster: cannot create UNIX stream port

Can anyone help me with whats wrong
