PostgreSQL 9.1 Release Candidate 1 Now Available

Posted on 2011-08-22

The first release candidate of PostgreSQL 9.1 is now available. This RC contains fixes for all known outstanding issues reported on the betas of version 9.1. In order to prevent bugs in the production release of 9.1, it is critical for all users test 9.1 RC1 and check that all issues are resolved.

Many users have already helped us by testing Beta 3 and reporting issues they encountered with it.

Among the other issues fixed in the RC1 release are:

  • pg_upgrade failure on orphaned temp tables
  • pg_restore error with standard_conforming_strings
  • resolving issues with SSI and two-phase commit

Our thanks to users who reported the problems which led to these fixes.

If you tested 9.1 features earlier and reported bugs with Beta 3 or earlier alphas, please download RC1 and test that these issues are resolved. This release candidate may be followed by one or more release candidates before 9.1.0 is released.

9.1 RC1 is being released in source code form and with packages and installers installers for Windows, Mac OSX and Linux.
