Rdbhost provides SQL databases (PostgreSQL) via Web Service

Posted on 2009-11-03

Create a database for free. Modify it via an online administrative tool, via HTTP requests, or via the Python DB API module. Usage is free for low volumes, and demand (bandwidth and storage) priced above the quota. Pay only for what you use.

Since network access is via HTTP requests, the databases are useful from Google Appengine and other platforms that do not permit direct socket connections to database hosts.

The database engine behind the service is PostgreSQL 8.3.

The Python DB API 2 compliant module allows easy access to the remote databases from any python application with internet access. Use Rdbhost for your website backend, or for the 'social' data sharing aspects of your desktop application.
