AnySQL Maestro 9.8 released

Posted on Sept. 2, 2009

SQL Maestro Group announces the release of AnySQL Maestro 9.8, a powerful tool to manage any database engine including PostgreSQL.

The new version is immediately available at http://www.sqlmaestro.com/products/anysql/maestro/.

Starting with this version AnySQL Maestro comes in two editions: Freeware and Professional. The feature matrix is available here.

AnySQL Maestro has been successfully tested with all the latest official PostgreSQL ODBC drivers up to version 08.04.01 (both ANSI and Unicode) and all the latest PostgreSQL server versions up to 8.4.

New features:

  1. Support for check constraints has been added (if supported by DBMS and driver).

  2. Indexes and foreign keys are now refreshed correctly from the database and schema levels.

  3. The SQL Dump Wizard now tries to produce the script compatible with the current SQL dialect instead of generating standard SQL statements. Moreover, it is now possible to generate multi-row INSERTs as well as specify the output file encoding.

  4. Data grid features the following things:

4.1. Starting with this version it is possible to use the lookup editor for a column, which is linked by a foreign key with a (single) column from another table. The editor displays the contents of parent table's columns within the dropdown window.

4.2. A possibility of displaying data in the master-detail form has been incorporated into the Table Editor (multiple detail pages can be displayed for a single master row).

4.3. A possibility of displaying row numbers has been added.

4.4. It is now possible to restrict maximum column width.

4.5. Support for fixed columns has been implemented (such columns are displayed permanently when working with other grid data).

  1. Data Export wizard has been significantly improved. Now you can export data to Microsoft Office Excel 2007, Microsoft Office Word 2007, OpenDocument Spreadsheed, and OpenDocument Text file formats and select theresult file encoding.

  2. Data Import wizard has been updated too. Now you can import data from Microsoft Office Excel 2007 and Microsoft Office Access 2007 file formats, import CSV and Text data files stored in different encodings, empty the target table as well as execute custom SQL scripts before and after import. This wizard also has been completely rewritten.

  3. French and Italian localizations are now included into the installation package.

  4. Visual Query Builder has been dramatically improved. Now it can produce INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE statements as well as the SELECT statements containing subqueries and/or UNIONs.

  5. This version of our software is fully compatible with large fonts.

  6. BLOB Viewer: Unicode support has been added to the Non-BLOB data grid.

  7. A lot of other minor improvements and bugfixes.

Full press release is available at the SQL Maestro Group website.
